Back to School Pencil Nails

Requested by Emily: Back to School Nails

Make sure you read the whole tutorial before doing it, there are some tricky steps.

Step 1:
Paint all your nails white
Step 2:
Place nails on top of a hard surface so that all the nails are at the same height ( this is important to paint the pencil so that it aligns at the end)

Step 3:
Paint two horizontal lines using yellow nail polish. Repeat the same lines in the 3 middle fingers only ( do not pain the thumb or the pinky)

Step 4:
Paint the inside of the lines yellow.

Step 5:
For the pinky nail, all you have to do it pain the same horizontal yellow line but make sure that iit only goes half way trough the nail.

Step 6: Important step.
For the thumb nail paint the same yellow line halfway trough the nail BUT  do not paint it horizontally! do it vertically so that the pencil can be formed afterwards (look at the finish pictures). When doing designs like this one, this is the step where most people make mistakes. Look at the pictures:

Step 7:
Is time to make the top part of the pencil in the thumb nail.
Using silver nail polish pain a line on top of the yellow line, make sure it is not too thick (have a pencil next to you for reference)
To make the eraser use a light pink polish. just paint it on top of the silver line and make the top round.
Step 8:
The pinky nail where the tip of the pencil goes is probably the trickiest step.
For this make sure to use a thin brush and light brown nail polish. Draw a triangle next to the yellow line. then make little lines (5)  going down the triangle into the yellow line. ( you can  skip the little lines going on the yellow if you would like, just leave it a triangle)
After you have done that and is dry. Using black nail polish and a thin brush make the tip of the triangle black and outline the pencil's shape. Try your best to outline the little triangles that separate the light brown and yellow lines ( if you decided to skip the little lines, you can simply draw a vertical line and omit the details. It will still look good and is less work)

Step 9:
Outline the rest of the pencil with black polish and a thin brush.

I hope you guys like it I worked really hard on it! Thanks for your request.

  2. If I wanted to do this on my toenails would the eraser need to be horizontal or... what?

    1. yes, for your toe nails the eraser part would be horizontal like the rest of your toes. ( easier than doing it on your hands!)
